1 This Privacy Policy

1.1 Swiss Reinsurance Company and/or its direct or indirect subsidiaries (herein after referred to collectively as "Swiss Re", Mythenquai 50/60, 8022 Zurich, Switzerland), is committed to protecting your personal information and other data provided to Swiss Re via this and any other Swiss Re portal ("Portal") or web site, or via any Swiss Re online e-business applications (collectively "Swiss Re Applications"). Please read this Privacy Policy carefully as it contains important information about the use of information which you provide to Swiss Re. This Privacy Policy explains what information Swiss Re collects about you, and how Swiss Re collects and uses your information, including setting out the circumstances where Swiss Re could provide it to third parties. You should also read the applicable Terms of Use for all Swiss Re Applications.

2 What information does Swiss Re collect and what does Swiss Re do with it

2.1 To take advantage of some of Swiss Re's services (such as the use of the Portal and accessing of available data) you may be required to log on or register. Swiss Re needs to collect information about you and your computer to enable you to do so and to enable you to continue using the Swiss Re Applications. Swiss Re may use your IP address to help diagnose problems with its server and to administer the Swiss Re Applications. The information will be collected when you register, or when you choose to use one of the services available via the Swiss Re Applications.

2.2 Swiss Re will use the information which it collects to personalise your experience on the Swiss Re Applications, to help you log on in future and to continue to use the Swiss Re Applications, and to help Swiss Re select services or materials for inclusion on the Swiss Re Applications which may be of interest to you. Swiss Re may need to pass your information to third parties who help Swiss Re to maintain, administer or develop the Swiss Re Applications but, if so, that information is only given to those third parties for that limited purpose.

2.3 Swiss Re also monitors traffic patterns and usage of the Swiss Re Applications to help Swiss Re improve its Swiss Re Applications designs and lay out. Swiss Re may pass this information to its partners or other third parties but it will not contain any personally identifying information.

2.4 Swiss Re may use your information to notify you of news about Swiss Re, changes to the Swiss Re Applications, special events or new services that Swiss Re thinks may interest you. If, at any time, you would rather not receive any such information, please send Swiss Re an e-mail. In those circumstances, Swiss Re will need to keep your information on file so that you can continue to use the Swiss Re Applications and so that Swiss Re can deal with the administration and security of the Swiss Re Applications, but Swiss Re will not e-mail you or contact you by telephone, fax or post.

2.5 Swiss Re reserves the right to access and disclose personal data or information to comply with applicable laws and lawful government requests, to operate its systems properly, or to protect itself or its users.

3 Sharing of information with third parties

3.1 From time to time, Swiss Re may choose to pass your details to carefully selected, trusted third parties so that they can also provide you with details of other services that might be of interest to you. If you do not wish Swiss Re to do so, you should follow the procedure set out in paragraph 2.4 above and Swiss Re will not provide your information to third parties for such purposes.

3.2 If Swiss Re does disclose information to third parties, Swiss Re will only do so to third parties who comply with the Swiss data protection laws (or equivalent data protection laws in other countries) or whom Swiss Re is satisfied with and have appropriate measures to protect data. However, in some cases a breach of security may be made by a third party for which Swiss Re cannot accept responsibility.

4 Your consent

4.1 You acknowledge and agree that:

4.1.1 in the course of registering and using these Swiss Re Applications and any services offered via these Swiss Re Applications, certain information about you may be captured electronically or otherwise and transmitted to Swiss Re or and, potentially, to any third parties as set out above or to third parties who host Swiss Re web servers or assist Swiss Re in maintaining these Swiss Re Applications; and

4.1.2 Swiss Re may send your information outside of the European Economic Area for processing or use in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

4.1.3 by using these Swiss Re Applications, you expressly agree to the collection and use of your information as set out above for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy.

5 Swiss Re's responsibilities - how does Swiss Re protect user information?

5.1 When you review your account information or enter into transactions, Swiss Re offers the use of a secure server. The secure server software encrypts the information that you input before it is transmitted to Swiss Re. To prevent unauthorised access, Swiss Re follows legally required security procedures in the storage and disclosure of information which you have given to Swiss Re. This means that sometimes Swiss Re may ask for proof of identity before Swiss Re discloses personal information to you.

5.2 Certain areas of the Swiss Re Applications where transactions are entered into, reviewed or transmitted are password protected. You can help to preserve your privacy by never sharing your password with anyone else.

5.3 Swiss Re seeks to limit its employees’ access to your information about you to those employees who need to have such information to service your account. Swiss Re emphasises to its employees the confidential nature of user information and the high level of importance which Swiss Re places on maintaining this confidentiality. Furthermore, any companies Swiss Re hires to provide support services must comply with Swiss Re's privacy policies.

6 What are ‘cookies’ and how does Swiss Re use them?

6.1 Swiss Re may conduct analyses of user traffic. These analyses will be performed through the use of IP addresses and cookies which are required to ensure a secure server connection.

6.2 A cookie is a piece of information that is stored on your computer’s hard drive by your web browser. On visiting the Swiss Re Applications, your computer server may use the cookie to guarantee a secure connection. Most browsers accept cookies automatically, but usually you can alter the settings of your browser to prevent automatic acceptance. If you choose not to receive cookies, you may not be able to use the Swiss Re Applications (eg. "Open positions in Switzerland", Swiss Re Portal etc.).

7 Changes to Privacy Policy

Swiss Re reserves the right to add to or change the Terms of this Privacy Policy in its sole discretion, without prior notice to you. If Swiss Re changes this Privacy Policy, Swiss Re will post the new Privacy Policy on the Swiss Re Applications, and it will become effective from the time of posting to the Swiss Re Applications. Please visit this Privacy Policy on a regular basis to make sure you have read the latest version and you understand what Swiss Re does with your information. Wherever possible, Swiss Re will give you notice of any changes prior to their implementation.

8 Applicable law and place of jurisdiction

These terms and conditions shall be construed, enforced and performed in accordance with the substantive laws of Switzerland without reference to principles of conflicts of laws. The place of jurisdiction is Zurich (City). Swiss Re makes no representation that any information, materials or functions included are appropriate for use in any other jurisdiction. If you access Swiss Re's site you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with applicable local laws and regulations.
